#IAMCONSTITUTION Wins Gold In Stars Of Africa Awards

Johannesburg. 8 December 2017. The Ichikowitz Family Foundation in partnership with Paramount Group won the Gold Award in the Stars of Africa Awards in the Category for Education, Training and Skills Development for the #IamConstitution campaign.

Hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in South Africa, the Award ceremony formed part of its Annual Gala Dinner, held at the Sandton Convention Centre. More than 70 entries were received and other winners in the Star of Africa Awards included Microsoft, KFC and Eskom.

The Ichikowitz Family Foundation (IFF) launched the #IamConstitution Campaign in 2016 – a nationwide awareness and educational drive in commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of South Africa’s first democratic constitution. #IamConstitution encourages citizens to celebrate one of the greatest achievements of our young democracy by reading, embracing and choosing to live by the Constitution.

Mandy Jacobson, Director of the Ichikowitz Family Foundation said: “As an awareness raising campaign it exceeded our objectives. The campaign initiated innovative art forms, such as beat boxing, fine art, sand sculptors, graffiti and mural walls, drama performances, heritage tours as well as an award-winning TV series to reach the widest possible audience.”

The year-long campaign involved a series of highly successful events from student debates, a road trip across the country, festivals and art activations that have touched the lives of tens of millions of South Africans.

This has been achieved through an array of partnerships with heritage stakeholders, creative arts youth programmes and independent artists as well as the participation of distinguished thought leaders and icons of our country’s democratic transition.
